Service Terms

We operate Monday to Saturday and offer three time slots. A morning slot is between 8am to 12pm. A day appointment is between 12pm and 5.30pm. An evening fitting is between 6pm and 9pm. In each case your fitter will contact you at least half an hour before arrival. Please be as accurate as possible when describing your order so that we give you the right quote and estimated build time. This means we can be punctual to all our customers. Adverse traffic conditions can make us overrun but we will always keep you informed when this happens.

We strongly advise customers to measure the available space before purchasing furniture taking into account any floor skirting and height or curvature of ceilings etc. In addition most flatpack furniture has to be assembled lying flat so please ensure that you leave sufficient workspace on the floor to make this possible. Wardrobes must have at least 8 - 10 cm ceiling clearance in their assemble state.

Removals

Moving home can be one of the most stressful events these days, but only if you are not well prepared for it. Flatout furniture services have developed a system through experience to take the sting out of this process. Below are some helpful hints to make your move more efficient. Following these simple but effective steps will make transportation and unloading quicker ( therefore cheaper ) and unpacking simpler. It will also reduce the risk of damage to your goods or property. Try and give yourself at least a week, packing one room a day. This should give you time to remedy any oversights in the process.

1) Write a moving list, having a heading for each room, followed by a rough content description. For example under ‘lounge’ you could have contents such as ‘media hardware/ software’ for hi-fis DVDs etc. The ‘bedroom’ heading could have ‘books’, ‘PC hardware/ software’, ‘linen’ etc. Try and estimate the number of bags / boxes / bubble required to pack each room and purchase them from your nearest self storage warehouse or try www.boxesdirect.com

2) Obtain some marker pens, black bags, medium and large boxes, bubble wrap and some sticky address labels. Old newspapers are also useful for small breakables.

3) Proceed to pack each room, labelling the box contents as you go along. Be sure to check the weight of each box to prevent splitting or injury. Finally close and seal off the top so they can be stacked for transport. You can label fragile content boxes accordingly with a ‘this way up’ arrow for extra care when handling. All mirrors / paintings / large glass items must be bubble wrapped before transportation.

4) Book your appointment with us and we will transport your items from door to door. We can help with the packing if you wish at an hourly rate plus the cost of wrapping materials.

5) If there are large items of furniture which have access problems we are happy to dismantle and re assemble at the other end where possible. We are unable to do window / rope access deliveries for insurance purposes.

Removal rates and service terms

Removals charged at £60 for the first hour ( 1 hour minimum ) and £40 per hour thereafter in 30 minute blocks. All goods are covered by our public liability and goods in transit insurance for your peace of mind. All we ask is that all items are bagged / boxed and sealed. This allows efficient loading and prevents loose items getting damaged. Large breakable items must be bubble wrapped to prevent damage.

Unwanted Furniture/Disposal

Following recent environmental trends, local authorities are becoming evermore stringent about household waste management. Their cause is just but this often leaves the average household with the hassle of disposing of old furniture and cardboard. Flatout furniture services is licensed to dispose of such items responsibly and can lighten the load when organising your home or office. Disposal is charged at £30 per item and more if dismantling is required before removal.
